For the last several days I’ve been getting texts from my friend De in Maine, pumping me for “visitor” info:
1. Do I want to go see some cute little stores including antiques? Silly question! We’re both window shopping fools who like nothing better than to “score” great Christmas gifts.
2. Do I like this or that? (Lots of those texts) Last night’s question was about dark chocolate which she knows I adore. She and her Hubs were giving the dark chocolate ice cream a “taste test” to make sure it was up to par for my visit.
3. Do I like to shop for Pumpkins? There’s a patch nearby: See #1. If the word “shop” is involved, count me in.
Methinks the Little Friend (her nickname) is anxious for my visit! I am too.
However there’s an issue with one of my kitties. Simon has been literally crying ever since the suitcase came out of the closet. He wants constant reassurance…hugs, kisses. His eyes are wide and pleading for me to put everything away and stay home. It’s breaking my heart. I am his whole world.
Maggie doesn’t seem to care either way. There are laser beams to chase, bugs to follow and interesting odors wafting through the screens on the back porch. She’ll miss me for a few minutes but then it will be business as usual. Throw a crumpled cash register receipt on the floor and she’ll be busy for hours batting it around the room like a professional soccer player. She gets more upset during toenail trims than she does when I’m gone for a few days.
Hubs will be holding down the fort so I’m sure they’ll be fine.
I found this little tidbit interesting: I paid $59.98 to check one bag round trip.
WHAT is THAT about? If I had a carry-on it would have been $35.98, but I would have had to buy all my toiletries on the other end.
It didn’t stop there.
My seat selection for two non stop flights was $38.00 Allegiant Air kinda squeezes some of the fun out of wheels up. Once I asked for a pillow and was told they’d sell me one for $7. It was a blow up model. Yeesh!
Still, it’s going to be a cool time, camera ops galore and I’m so thankful for the chance to see gorgeous scenery, and hang with a terrific friend and her family. God is so good.
