2nd Happening-Continuation of 10-26 post 10/29/2006 5:55:28 AM
On my last blog post I mentioned 2 happenings in 2 days.
This the 2nd happening.
My second happening was my signing up for sirius satellite radio.I tried out a free trial of both XM and Sirius. I preferred sirius. Continous music channels 24/7, no interuptions, no talking, just music, and there were zillions of music channels to choose from. I enjoy the easy listening of older songs. I enjoy classical music, Vivaldi being my favorite, along with some Yanni, Octmar Leibert, and a little old country added in to round out my day. But, there was another more important reason that I wanted to get sirius, and it was NASCAR. When I heard that sirius had been signed for 5 years to get the rights to air the Nascar Nextel, Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series, I was so happy. I am so hooked on Nascar, thanks to my grandkids, who no longer are interested in it, but have left we addicted to it.(How I got addicted to Nascar will be told in my story category page in the next day or so-that means you will have to check out my blog, plus my stories and articles for new writings.Each new topic that I write about has another side to it, which will be told on my other writings)
Now, to get back to sirius. I called their toll-free number and talked to a very nice women. I told her that I was addicted to Nascar, and wanted sirius in order to hear all the races over my computer. We decided that a Sportster Radio along with the portable boombox with a handle and docking base. Having seen the pictures of it, I knew this was the one I wanted. She quoted me a very good price, telling me everything that came with the purchase. I asked her if she wanted to call me back later in the afternoon as I wanted to make sure this is what I wanted.
The cost was about $250 for everthing. I knew that there would be a monthly charge of $12.95 and that also included the service to play on my computer also. Then I started to think. I only wanted the service on my computer, I really didn't need anything else as I wasn't planning on using it in the car. I called her back, and asked if there was any way to just get the service on my computer only without buying anything else, she paused a minute, then said, of course, all you have to do is pay the $12.95 a month and it is automatically hooked up to the computer..So, that is what I did. Now I can listen to my favorite music while I play omaha hi-lo with play money on my favorite poker sites.(My poker playing on-line, with play money will be another story, along with how I stumbled upon this delight-it will be another story to watch for on my stories page)
I cannot wait for January to happen.That is when NASCAR 24/7 starts. So, Sirius Satellite Radio was my second happening. I have a feeling my days will be filled with lovely music, and my weekends with NASCAR. My brothers wanted to know if I would be listening to HOWARD. I said no, as I had already seen Howard Stern late at night on the TV,and was tired of asking myself, how he could get away with his raunchy ramblings, not to be confused with my ramblings.I know you are not supposed to say never..so who knows, maybe some night or day, when I have nothing to do, except play poker with play money on the computer, listen to my music thru Sirius, if I get bored with playing cards for a minute, maybe, just maybe, my fingers just might slip off the keyboard, and just might happen to hit the stop button on the music, and accidently they might hit the HOWARD channel in error..We will see, only time will tell, and if so, that would probably be another story to share with you.
