GRANDMA BABA GETS HER NASCAR ON SIRIUS RADIO!!! 1/9/2007 5:00:19 PM
Perseverance finally pays off for Nascar-Nextel Addict Barbara Sue's friendly Grandma Baba, who is well known around her Den, has finally ended her month long battle of the wits, with the presumedly in-the-know, technicians at Sirius Radio. If you have been following her antics here on this sight, you know that she is a real true-blue Nascar nut, who was turned on to Nextel by her grandsons, and the thrill of auto racing has never left her blood. She is a die-hard Jeff Gordon fan (#24).
Their are several other names I have heard
her yell out when the races are in progress, drivers names
I mean, although there are other words which, even though
coming out of her grandmotherly mouth, I will not share
with you all.
Yesterday, Grandma Baba made her daily call to Sirius
Radio in the hopes she could find someone who was really
knowledgeable about how the Sirius Kits worked. She already
had the 24/7 music, which played on her computer. She had
gotten hooked up with that in preparation for the coming of
Nascar, January 7, 2007. In the beginning of January she
had called for a Sirius Technician to help her hook up the kit she had purchased to enable her to listen to the races
on Sirius Satellite Radio, while working on her computer, just like she has been doing with the music channels at Sirius. She was told that she would not be able to have the
Nascar broadcasts aired to her for various reasons, only
known to some of the technicians at Sirius. Besides, my
talking about what when on, upsets her. So if you are

and you will find out what happened back in December.
Yesterday, a miracle occurred..After being put through to
3 different departments, customer service. media, and
finally to an advanced technician, who read over her file
and told her that she sure hadn't given up on them. I believe that she then told him he was her last resort, as
her family had agreed to pay for a trip out to the Sirius
Headquarters to get the matter straightened out and that
she was going to write a story for her local newspaper
chronically her problems in getting her Nascar. The Tech laughed at this, in a friendly way, of course, or Grandma
Baba would have expresed her opinion on his laughing about
a matter so dear to her heart..
Next, she was taking the Sirius Satellite Box out of her
computer desk, and agreeing with him as he named the pieces
she should have in order for him to help her..According to
Grandma everything was there that was needed..So the work
started, she was busy talking and plugging in plugs where
he told her to. Then I heard her say, "What do you mean
that I don't have to put the antennae outside the window?"
Everybody else made me do it" Then she said another couple
of words I won't repeat, and I heard the technician laughing again, only this time Grandma was laughing also..
After about 10 minutes I heard the signal coming through loud and clear from Sirius. Grandma let out a yell..she is
good with her yells..Then I saw her nod her head and she said she would be right back. She put the phone down and got her AM-FM boom box radio out of her desk drawer (the grandkids gave it to her 2 years ago)She then tuned in the
boom box radio station to 88.1 and suddenly there was the
glorius sound of Nascar coming from the radio and the Satellite Channel sitting on a stand on her desk next to her computer.(this is where she can change the channels for everything she wants to hear on Sirius) They got it to work. Grandma was smiling, the technician was talking happily to her, and even gave her his direct line to his office, in
case anything went wrong for her again..
I have never seen her so happy. No one really knows what
being able to listen to her Nascar while on her computer, instead of having to sit and watch it on TV meant to her..
She had the patience, sometimes, to go as far as she knew
how, to achieve her goal..She then got off the phone with the technician, whose name is Greg, and she put her index
card with his direct phone number at Sirius on it, safely
away in her top desk drawer with a paper clip on it, so it
won't be lost..
If you ever feel like you have a problem, and can't get to the bottom of it, or find a real answer..Remember,
Grandma Baba and her perseverance...Oh, and by the way,
Grandma won't be able to be reached on Saturdays or Sundays,
during the racing season. She is thinking about getting into
The Craftsman Truck Series and The Busch Series, also..
So, whenever they are on, Grandma Baba says to tell every
one that she will get back to them, if they leave a message
on her telephone recorder, after hearing her Nascar-Nextel
voice mail greeting on her phone..Go Jeff,go...I say, Go
