NY Rangers v. Pittsburgh Penquins 4/25/2008 8:44:27 AM
Beginning Round 2 of Playoff Action. 7:30 features Sid
Crosby and company hosting The NY Rangers The Penquins blew out the Ottawa Senators in Round 1 , in 4 straight games. The Sens suffered from bad coaching, and injuries since the All Star break and for another year choked in the playoffs..( They had lost in the Stanley Cup finals to the Ducks last year)..so neither team from last years Stanley Cup Finals has advanced through 1 Round of Playoffs.
SO this is going to be an interesting series..The Rangers hae taken all 4 games at home- against the Penquins..and the Penquins have beaten NYR on their ice..they haven't faced each other in the playooffs since 1996. JAGR who is a former Pittsburgh star, and the Ranger Captain, will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in this series. He still remains one of the deadliest players on ice in the playoffs..just look at his stats in the Devils series. He has also been instrumental in mentoring younger players like Dubinsky and Callahan who have been playing like Veterans and not the rookies they are. Then you have veterans like Shanahan and Drury and Gomez..all plucked from NJ- Buffalo and NJ in that order.. Drury was the reason why the NYR suffered defeat in Round2 last season, game 6 with seconds ticking down on the clock..he scored a goal and vaporized the Ranger dreams last season..and now he is with New York.
I don't have all the time I need to continue my thoughts, but I will write a post game review.
