New York Rangers - Round 2 4/25/2008 8:40:11 AM
The Rangers take out the Devils 5-3 in game 5. They are the 2 best and most defensive teams in the East Conference..and now #2 has been eliminated..and not without calls of unsportsmanlike conduct on #16 Sean Avery against goalie Martin Brodeur. It was a very exciting series to watch, not unlike the Yankess v. Red Sox. Well the Rangers have advanced..and now that Philly knocked out the Capitals in game 7 at Washington, the East Conference matchup will be: NYR v Penquins and Philly v. Montreal, with the 2 winners advancing for East Conf Title and advancement to Stanley Cup Finals..
Its exciting to watch..because the level & style of play is different than in regular season. The Penguins, swept Ottawa in the first round, and Rangers, beat New Jersey 4-1, will begin their best-of-seven series Friday night in Pittsburgh, where the Pens were 3-0-1 during the regular season. The Rangers won all four meetings at MSG, with the Penguins earning only one point in the four games .The teams have met three times in the playoffs, with the Penguins winning all three series.
But that was 12yrs ago, and this is now. And an interesting series it will be! ;-)
