Why you should make your voice heard and take an interest in politics! 3/5/2009 4:10:29 AM
Maybe i'm barking up the wrong tree..
But the decision of World leaders effect your lives, security and day to day living.
What would you do at leading your country? The banks were paddling around in clear waters having fun, they didn’t notice the boat was drifting towards the dirty brown rapid waters that were going to quickly take them over the edge. Does your Prime minister or President have the paddles to steer a different course, if so what is it?
The history of Governments and finance will tell you one thing, if you borrow, borrow, borrow you end up with big trouble with a capital T, do we never learn from history?
Sometimes it was good to believe in common sense politics, but all you see in this country and around the world is that government is dictated to by power, money and greed!
What does Mr. Jones really want to have? A roof over his head, a job so he can pay the bills and an extra bit of cash, so he can save or afford a car or annual holiday.
What does he want to see? Lower crime and tough punishment, choice of quality health and education systems, clean and enjoyable public transport and local community services that support him.
If the government had pumped billions into public services, then maybe it would be a price worth paying…
But what have we got for this unbelievable debt the country has run up?
Has crime gone down? Do we see tough sentencing? Are any more new prisons being built?
Has public transport been enhanced? Are our road networks any better, are new roads being built?
Is there choice and competition of high quality new schools in your area?
Do you have to travel a long distance to your hospital? Are you seen when you want to be seen…do you get the drugs that you need?
Are there more police on the streets? Do you feel any safer or are you in a neighbourhood where you still feel intimidated and threatened?
What do you get from your local councils…is it a clean picturesque environment, refuse collections on time? Maintenance and repair work carried out efficiently and to a high standard? Playing areas for your children?
Maybe, but I would say in most part of my and your countries NO!
So what have we got?
A banking crisis, caused by their own greed and lack of government control and regulation that the tax-payer now has to bail out.
Rising unemployment…
Business closures because the banks won’t increase lending to them.
Wars, where we cannot support our own troops properly.
Increased immigration.
And in these times where people need help with food, fuel and energy bills…
And mortgage repayments, what happens?
Mega rich supermarkets, with billions of profit make food prices higher..
Energy companies who also make mind boggling profit, increase rates and mortgage lenders are quick to reprocess property.
And increase in fuel tax.
So does the government pumping millions into the banks…make any difference to you?
Will cutting vat by 2.5 per cent make you spend more? All this give away promised now will drown us in debt and we will be paying for years to come…
The government has to get to grip with the crux of the matter and that is the banking system, they have to be confident to lend to each other and must increase lending to the small business who are the backbone of any country.
This government and future governments must listen to the people and get back to common sense politics…
Have to have tax rate cuts for low income.
No stamp duty up to £250,000.
Mortgage tax-relief.
A cap on immigration with people coming into this country with the right skill set, to free up jobs.
Complete revamp of the benefit system, hard working tax-payers do not like people who scrounge of the system, and this government makes it easy for them to do that.
Do they invest and protect the environment and enhance education for our future generations?
All low income households to get free loft insulation.
They need to impose a high carbon tax on heavy industrial.
They need to get a long term plan from the Auto-industry for green initiatives.
Eventually high tax bracket for high emission cars.
Secure land for natural wild life and nature reserves.
To get the stimulus going in this country…
Need to build affordable homes for first time buyers.
Build new hospitals, schools, prisons and roads.
Training workshops for unemployed to teach skills.
Development work shops for people who have lost a job and need a new direction.
Re-employ skilled workers into green energy initiatives.
They say its extraordinary times we live in, cause for extraordinary solutions, so shouldn’t we have extraordinary politics and get the government to brainstorm and accept proposals from all parties….
