There is an eagle in me that wants to soar!
We each have an eagle inside us, and the luckiest ones get to let that eagle soar from time to time.
Writing, revising, re-writing, revising, re-writing my speech for the Arkansas Writers' Conference was a months-long project that challenged me and forced me to use both sides of my brain in new and different ways.
Come June 1, 2012 I felt confident and ready to present "Words: Powerful, Playful, Persuasive" to the special audience before me in little Rock.
What a thrill to be included among the other gifted, talented and experienced speakers the weekend of June 1-2.
In April my poem, "Time" was selected by Deep South Magazine during National Poetry Month as Poem of the Day on April 7, 2012. www.deepsouthmag.com/2012/04/time
The next creative breeze to send me skyward was receiving 3rd Place in the Grand Conference Award II for a personal essay, “Love Gives Itself”; and 2nd Place in the Village Writers of Hot Springs Village Award for another essay, “The Teacher Who Was Most Influential in My Life” at the 68th Annual Arkansas Writers' Conference in Little Rock on June 1-2, 2012.
Lift-off was the acceptance and positive feedback from my speech “Words: Powerful, Playful, Persuasive”. I became airborne.
The wind remains beneath my wings. My feathers feel light at the moment. What motivation! Looking forward to a productive summer.
