Elections,1940s Hits and A Bit More

The much awaited general election has now come and gone with
three political leaders being guillotined in one day, it was
an exciting and astounding result .Surprises being the order
of the day that must surely belongs to the SNP leader Nicola
Sturgeon and the leader of the Tories,David Cameron.The whole
affair seemed to clash in an undignified manner with the
official celebrations/remembrance of VE Day which took place
at the Cenotaph in Whitehall the day after the election.Many
of the political leaders who laid wreaths had had hardly,if
any sleep. Ed Milliband,Nick Clegg looked both dazed and
shattered as if they were about to meet a firing squad.I
suppose to be so defeated and rejected in the brightest gaze
of a heartless media is not the most desireable of places
to be.I`m sure however that they ,along with Mr .Farage ,
will survive very well.
A very enjoyable concert broadcast live from London in
celebration of VE Day featured the wars greatest hits ,which
lets face it so many people know.It was particularly nice to
hear a hearty unashamed rendition of Wave Me Luck As You
Wave Me Goodbye which was still very much on peoples lips as
I grew up,some thirteen years after VE Day in the late 50s
and early 60s .It of course was not complete without the
timeless We`ll Meet Again whichended the live broadcast.Vera
Lyn credited with singing it,now aged ninety nine was born
in one of the terraced houses in Stratford just a stones
throw from where I attended university.
last night saw a bit of drama here at Elmwood.I developed
severe chest pains and was advised to call an ambulance.I
however dialled an emergency helpline instead as the pain
build up to a cescendo and I vomited.I spoke to several
people doctors,nurses etc over a period of hours as the
pain died down and I got some sleep.This morning despite
still feeling sore most of the pain has gone and I spent the
day in bed resting and will consult a GP tomorrow.
The sun shone brightly through my large windows this bright
may morning.
