There is great wisdom and truth in the adage "One day at a time," especially as one ages and truly begins to appreciate every moment as a gift of life! A friend recently shared with me that he felt he was "in transition," and wondered if I were, perhaps, going through the same, having just been blessed with another birthday (78!) and still blessedly "going strong"... or at least kicking butt in the humblest of ways possible, very, very gratefully.
My friend's assertion is that having a purpose or mission in life makes all the difference, thereby giving flavor to the day ahead, with anticipation and excitement. Once enjoying that beloved cup of coffee and refreshing shower, all cylinders begin to turn and the day begins! It all sounds so wonderful; so full of promise...
As one gets older, it becomes a tad more challenging to push oneself to MOVE and cease the day, knowing it's up to us to make things happen; it's our show, after all, and we are the writers, producers and directors of our own life story.
My way of motivating myself is to count my blessings the moment I awaken, thank my Higher Power (God, in my case)for all good things, meditate and pray for all God's children, the world, our country, friends - and all creation.
No Holy Roller here, just a humble human being grateful. Easy? Not always, but it does make a huge difference in how my day and life plays out as I move along!
