No Giving Up - but doing magic: Moving!!!
9/23/2023 8:16:36 AM

Feel like giving up? Take a deep breath, hop in the shower - and, better yet, get on your knees and ask for help. It works!
More and more, there isn't a day on this green earth when I don't really care to leave my warm bed and start the day (and sometimes, like yesterday, I don't!) but I know it ain't healthy or realistic, so I just get up and do it: GO!!

We Americans have that wonderful adage about "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going"... and it it's true: it works!

I happen to live in a Boston beautiful, landmark: a senior building that, more and more is becoming a depressing nursing home, with more folks, each day, struggling to move their bodies with all kinds of contraptions that facilitate their getting around: canes, walkers, wheelchairs - and even small oxygen carriers they can wrap around their shoulders.

The building was not intended to become such, but, these days, with the present economic/social conditions and the homelessness issue, the rules have become more flexible. Of course, we all agree that everyone has a right to finding a roof over their head - including the mentally unstable, homeless and drug abusers who need a home and are now living down the hall from me. Depressing? You bet!

So, what does it take to try to be the best human being possible and tapping into one's heart and mind to not judge, be patient and tolerant in a place where one's intentions were to enjoy our "Golden years" in peace?

Each day is a challenge, for sure. And, I'm not even tapping on the issue of one's own health challenges while experiencing what could be more ideal living conditions... I'm just talking about GRATITUDE for what is: a roof over one's head and resources in this country that help us get through the day and making each one count.

After my first vaccine of the season, I chose to take the day off yesterday and rest, promising myself that today I would challenge myself with my responsibilities and chores - (grocery shopping/CVS/laundry) before the rain hits this afternoon.

I'm grateful for my resolve; I'm grateful for my cup of coffee and almond butter/banana-slathered healthy toast for energy - and my shower.

May God bless you all and give you energy and hope on this lovely day in this beautiful country of ours!

I'm getting out
