She goes to work the same as him,
She works hard every day,
Then she comes home to work for him,
While he comes home to play.
She gets home, kicks off her shoes,
And oh how good that feels,
Then she goes into the kitchen,
To prepare the family meal.
She wonders standing by the stove,
Is this how it should be?
She’s hard at work so he can eat,
While he’s watching TV.
She works as many hours as him,
It really isn’t fair,
Sometimes she wonders to herself,
If he really even cares.
She calls them to the table,
And they begin to eat,
But she has to finish up some things
Before she takes her seat.
She watches as they finish up,
And knows she can be sure,
They will go back to their TV,
And leave the dishes here for her.
As she is standing at the sink,
She thinks how nice a bath would be,
There are things that she would like to do,
But this they just can’t see.
It would be nice if they would help her,
But they seldom even try,
And sometimes as she thinks of that,
It makes her want to cry.
And then to top if off,
She has to do a load of clothes,
They could have had this done for her,
But then that’s how it goes.
They could show her that they care,
By little things that they could do,
It would help her out so much,
You see she gets tired too.
I hope that these few words
Will make so many stop and think,
That there are things she’d rather do
Than stand there at the sink.
We could help her with the dishes
And the laundry if we would,
Its only fair we help her out,
Don’t you think we should?
