This poem places the focus on the first Christmas and Baby Jesus,the first gift.

The First Gift

The first gift isn't in a box

With a pretty bow.

Gift one is Jesus, born in a manger, low

On the social register.

Leaving riches untold, He became small,

With no pomp or power.

A few shepherds in a field were told of His hour

To arrive on earth,

And they went to Him the king.

Despite His meager, humble birth,

He alone can save us from sin.

The first gift is Jesus- open; invite Him in

This Christmas.

I love the wonderful meaning in this poem!
I like the large print and the substance of the opening line, that catches the reader's attention right from the start. It is Scripture in everyday words throughout.
The final lines are so "inviting" they have a beautiful simplicity.

What a gift our salvation is! For Christmas my children and I, and now the grandchildren as well, celebrate it with a birthday cake for Jesus.
