Anybody out there rent anteaters??

I don’t know what you think of ants

I think mostly they’re a nuisance

Always on the countertops in droves

Tracking down some sort of food scents

I keep the counter sparkling clean

It really doesn’t matter

They’re after something all the time

But I just give them splatter

I’ve tried the Raid, I’ve tried the soap

Windex, bleach, ammonia

It makes no difference what you try

The ants are going to own ya

But late last night in my garage

I thought I’d seen it all

A column that could lift my truck

Was marching up the wall

Across the floor I saw the source

Using boxes as a bridge

The crafty little buggers had

Invaded my cold beer fridge

Now this is tantamount to war

To threaten my favorite beverage

But it pretty much turned out alright

Because they lacked the proper leverage

Most couldn’t squeeze past the tight door seal

But it was very clear they’d tried

When I opened up the freezer door

I saw a huge pile that had died

Mother Nature won this round

And froze the perpetrators

And those survivors left behind

Faced the raid can exterminator

I know I haven’t won the war

Because it’s still ant high season

But I made a population dent

For their beer hijacking treason

I must say that, although I admire their work ethic, I am not fond of ants at all. As long as they stay away from my home, I leave them alone. I recently discovered a small "colony" of them in my basement. I gave them a "present" which they took back to their nest and their queen. Within two days, they were gone... ...and they haven't been back. Thanks for sharing your "adventure," Patrick. Love and peace,

Regis

This was great, had me laughing out loud

There is a product that works, it's called " Ant Be Gone "
We can get it here in Canada, so I'm sure if you look you should be able to find it.

Stand guard, don't take your eyes off that BEER FRIDGE LOL

Oh no, not the beer?? What has this world come to? Don't get me started on ants. We put down a full bag of ant killer every two weeks and Robert sprays the perimeters of the outside of the house three times a week faithfully. We don't just get ants, we get fire ants and they hurt and leave blisters. No, don't get me started on ants...

Be always safe,
Karen

Entertaining poem, Patrick! I enjoyed it. If you read my sonnet titled "Dominion," you may not feel the same way toward ants again. Then, again, we're talking "favorite beverage" here, aren't we? :)
Keep up the good work! My Best, A.S. Ziner

I know it would probably cost too much, but my mom used to use honey, she'd put a bowl on the floor. and counter, they get stuck in it and you can toss them in a can and be rid of them. However she never had too many the way some get them in California. I never had them here where I live,it's an older settled neighborhood. the owner told me that they thrive in the newer neighborhoods where a lot of construction goes on,and they're always on the move...Excellent poem!
