Baseball in November
Basketball in June
These seasons run on for so long
It makes my conscious swoon
They cry about the snowflakes
They cry about the rain
They cry until they reach the bank
To deposit obscene gain
A million for six pitches
A hundred thousand for an inning
A three point shot made or not
It’s their wallets that are winning
And we the lowly sports fans
Sadly let devotion linger
When the owner of a ball club
Gives opposing fans the finger
Yeah he was fined a quarter mill
And he apologized
But I for one am just fed up
As you maybe have surmised
I guess I should think local
And give the high school teams support
They still play the game with heart
I am happy to report
