Poem Artwork

Tryptophan, tryptophan

Whyfore art thou tryptophan

Deny thy gobbler and refuse my slumber

As yet my eyes wilt before your potion’s power

And I’ll no longer be a servant to the Butterball

Shall you hear more or shall I succumb

Tis not just thy name that that is my enemy

Thou are thyself though, not Tryptophan

What’s Tryptophan? It is nor drumstick, nor breast

Nor wing, nor thigh, nor any other part

Belonging to a turkey O! be some other name:

What’s in a name? That which we call a snooze

By any other name would loose a snore

So Tryptophan would, were he not Tryptophan call’d

Retain that dear perfection which he owes

And without that title, I would remain awakened

As we speak to watch the Cowboys and Oakland.

Alas Tryptophan, I heed your call

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Man, I feel like I've read this somewhere; but a slightly different version. Strangely familiar. Massively creative Patrick. I love it.

But you know that its essential for growth and normal metabolism. And did you know also that its a precursor to niacin. Ever had a niacin rush? Holy Shit! Those don't put ya to sleep. Ole Shakys hairdo up there looks as if he might have been in that band A Flock of Seagulls. Thanx for the laugh Pat. Good write!
