Everyone needs a vacation now and then.

Poem Artwork

The Grim Reaper took a holiday

To get away from it all

But since he had no replacement

There was nobody else one could call

The phone lines began to ring furiously

But the Reaper could not reply

So there was no one able to harvest

When it was time for someone to die

The hospitals were suddenly busy because

The crash victims all would survive

And former suicide attempters

In droves were now ending up alive

The morgues very soon became empty

And all of the funeral homes too

The situation had left the morticians

With virtually nothing to do

Life insurance companies made huge profits

And the cemeteries all soon went broke

When the President heard of the problem

He turned to the Congress to invoke

A new national plan that would tax you

For all eternity and into the beyond

Forget about your retirement

With your lifespan the entitlements were gone

The Reaper returned from his holiday

Rousting the politicians awake from their slumber

“Citizens I’m a little backed up with these guys

Will you just kindly please take a number?”

Sounds like we really need this guy in Washington. Perhaps a 'Write-In' vote?

She chuckles. Well that would take care of the deficit, but any gain would be offset by that loss of estate tax...Lin

That's a good idea. Taxation into eternity. I'm sure they'll pass that with or without the "super-majority."

Na, he's been busy, very busy, he enjoyed the islands in the sun, while he's having fun, don't let him fool you, he sort of likes to sneak up on people, I woke up the other night, just barely and what did I see, him standing there grinning, I said get lost, I see you, took my pill for ever lasting life, and went back to bed. So there dear Patrick, I thought I'd tell you, to help save your hide.
Bless Ya! Jasmin Horst
