Four weeks ago I got up off my butt

To whack on some weeds in the yard

I fired up the whacker and to my dismay

Found the fuel line had gotten too hard

It broke off at the gas tank and spilled fuel on the ground

My adventure was about to transpire

I hopped into my truck and drove all over town

To find a new hose about as thick as a wire

I went to the Depot and on to the OSH

And then to the Do It and thence to the Lowes

On to the Ace and finally to Sears

 No one it seems had this fifty cent hose

Then I remembered an old lawnmower shop

So I drove over and relayed my needs.

The owner just chuckled a cut me a piece

For my junker that was unfit to cut weeds

I’d spent twenty in gas plus three dollars more

All for a fifty cent hose

And when I got home to slip the new part in place

It wouldn’t go, a design feature I suppose

Highly discouraged I gave up for the day

I then settled back down on my cheeks

I contemplated all of my options

Fast forward the original four weeks

I went to the Mart for a new whacker

Brought it home and got me some brews

I assembled the parts between cold beers

And very soon it was ready to use

Maybe next week I will actually buy fuel

But with rain whacking odds are remote

I may actually have been far better served

If I’d invested that money in a goat
