“I think I’m ready to go home
How soon do I get out of here
I don’t like sleeping on my back
And my mind’s not very clear”
“I’ve been walking up and down the halls
With this catheter tied to my bed
And by the window working puzzles”
But it’s all just in her head
“I know I can’t get out of here
Until I take a poop”
But she hasn’t eaten solid food
Her mind’s stuck in an alzy loop
She claims she’s eaten very well
But it’s really broth and jello
It’s mostly just the Vicodin
Making her feel pleasantly mellow
Painkillers do work magic
They also scramble scrambled brains
For now the trade off’s needed
To help ease surgical pains
I showed her how to watch TV
Or play a game of computer chess
She said she’d only play it eye to eye
Now I’ve gotten myself into a mess
As a kid sometimes she’d clean my clock
So the challenge now is on
For if I lose this chess match
My self esteem will stepped upon
But somewhere on some level
I hope she cleans my clock again
So I can see inside a flicker of light
That’s been missing since this all began
I’ll keep you posted

I hope she cleans my clock again
I hope so, too.
Now, about that chess playing, my Pal the Big Boss in the sky says that He will take you for a game (but I must warn you, He cheats, He spies your brain to see what yo gonna move next!)
