Life is a box of animal crackers

Poem Artwork

I’ve had my share of ups and downs

Riding the Kangaroo

Both in big cities and little towns

Riding the Kangaroo

Lost destination dampened spark

Riding the kangaroo

Supposed to be daylight but it’s dark

Riding the kangaroo

My zoo keeper tried to warn me

Riding the Kangaroo

A bumpy road is meant to be

Riding the kangaroo

I guess he’s right but I can’t stop

Riding the kangaroo

Till I harvest my final crop

Riding the kangaroo

And then I’ll rest from all my chores

Riding the kangaroo

To nurse all of my saddle sores

Riding the kangaroo

You do the rue with no do-do. Your poet's award is past due, but no need to sue, you'll get your due, too.

Ron, still on the roo, too

The trick is not to fall off the kangaroo! Too bad as Regis said, we can't ride in the pouch...cute write, my friend.

Patrick,

Cute write. And may you one day rid yourself of your sores by riding your kangaroo.

Never knew you had a thing for marsupials; but I'm glad you came out. It's like when I announced to the world my relationship with Freddy the Ape last year. It requires some courage; but it is really liberating after you take that fateful step, no?

Like Ed, I have a question. Why did you not just ride in the pouch? LOL!!! Thanks for sharing your wit and humor once again, Patrick. Love and peace to you,

Regis

PS:

A fellow we know as Patrick
Has come up with a totally new trick
He straddles the back
Of a roo from The Outback
Out of it he gets quite a kick

I really like the delightful feel of this, the flow.
This is quite an account of your adventures ~ replete with imagery and a very whimsical ending.
Best Wishes,
Christine

Yeah, ol' pal, life certainly does have its ups and downs so by the time we get to our age, "Ouch!" Got a sore ass from riding life's kangaroo.
Your slightly older pal; Mark
