It’s International Hug Your Dog Day!!!!! Ok I just made that up. But you know what? Why the heck not?

Watched the news today saw nothing good Charlie Sheen spewing out his blog Can’t get motivated like you know you should Solution….Hug your dog Got every single red light on the way to work Boss decided to chew your butt Broke a tooth on your sandwich and now it hurts Solution….Hug you mutt The IRS just said they’re going to audit you You’re going to suffer a financial flog Your accountant simply shakes his head at you Solution….Hug your dog Three flat tires now your wife has left town With your ex best buddy and your head’s in a fog It’s getting pretty difficult not to feel down Solution……Hug your dog Your canine understands when you’re feeling blue It’s just as simple as falling off a log You’ll never find a medicine that’s better for you Solution…..Hug your dog If you haven’t got one here’s what you should do Pay a visit to a shelter and start a blessed trend Change your life for the better and someone else’s too Solution….adopt a friend Copyright 2011 Patrick Granfors

One of the best and most affordable therapies in town!
Sugarplum keeps me warm, too, by sleeping on my lap when I take a nap. I'm glad God thought of dogs!

I am at my daughter's home at present visiting with her,she has a cute dog ,it looks at me shyly and creeps up sneakily to lick my foot whilst I sit on the sofa then I gently pat his head and say 'good boy' and he slowly walks away.I have never hugged a dog,been sort of nervy around them since childhood but my daughter,she is a hugger of them,a vet nurse,it is beautiful to see,animals are likle kids,genuine and innocently sweet.I respect them from a distance mostly but I 100% agree with your idea it's enough to take all worry away...great poem!

Ahhhhh, feel like I went through the day with you! You are so right too! Why not have a "Hug Your Dog" Day????? Oh boy, I hug mine all day, every day and always feel so blessed to have such loving angels choose me...

After Jazz (black Pomeranian) was killed by a lab mix, I just couldn't bring myself to try to protect another dog from my wheelchair. However, now that we are near retirement the idea of the dog becomes more possible. I think this time it will be a larger, more huggable one like my twin brother's golden retriever, Rocky.

Thanks for the reminder. I think I'll just stop by a dog pound and hug a few of them.

Very funny, but how bad could your wife be if she left town with your best buddy but left the dog? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Brilliant advice Patrick!
My dog needs it too. He has a swollen tail, he can't hear, he's going blind, he's on a diet, he's trying to find peace in the kid-infested house and my son chases him around the house with his toy nerf guns.
