It Is Not...I (2024)

God never…ever…makes a mistake! And absolutely…nothing…happens that God has not allowed. Therefore, everything we experience…is for ‘His’ good purpose, and ours. Thus, as we leave 2023 and approach the threshold of a New Year…I personally, am not at all ashamed to admit that I am numb from the pass year’s events! I should not be still standing! I should not be able to go through each day! But I …do! Thus, I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt…it is not me who perseveres, indeed…it just can’t be! But it is… Jesus…who lives in me! I am entirely grateful that because of Him, we…press-on into 2024, Amen… HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Poem Artwork

Here I am…peeking…

thru a pristine, ajar… door

albeit, after twenty-twenty-three…

I’m apprehensive, as to what’s in store?

But then, there’s this…peaceful, shading…

of a parasol, hovering…near…

that’s sheltering…a hope within…

scattering…fear

Somehow troubles are washed…

instead, there’s…a smile…

brightening up my visage…

overlaying…pre-destined guile

I need to understand…how this is so…

when I’m constantly…exhaling…sighs?

there is only one answer…Jesus!

as, it is…not I.

Trying to figure this …faith…

that’s surely a tenant

dispersing…strong winds

walking…independent

A river, so calming…

disarming...mal descry?

it’s…got…to be…Jesus!

yea, it is not…I.

Can’t explain… this mesh of warmth…

this mellow… glide…

that directs, with tender…

chastise.

A resplendent adorning

Jesus' Love...that's spied

here…every moment...

surely, it is not I.

And tho' at times...soulful sobs…

do fall…into earthen spring

each is caught in a bottle…

which belongs to… Our King.

Whereby, when strength wanes…

in fact, at moments…all gone

it is…The Power of God…

which moves me, right along.

Why, it would be a …crime…

if I let my head swell…

a downright…lie…

if I neglected to tell…

That of myself? I want to…bend…

I want to run… give-up the fight

but there’s…something inside

that keeps me …aright.

So then…if this encroaching new year…

was in my hands…to be seeing?

I’d slam the door shut, negating…

'His' reason…for my being.

Thus, my purpose…in 2024?

in…God’s Will Alone…it lies

for…indeed, without question…

it is…not…I.

Gal 2:20, Ps 56:8-9, Ps 27:13-14, 2Corn 4:6-10, Rom 8:28

As we approach the end of another eventful year, it is a blessing to reach such inspirational verse to remind us of all the things that we should reflect upon as we approach the new year, our blessings, our roots, our inspiration. Thank you for posting.

A real blessing to read, JMS Bell. One of your best, and most definitive, 'statements of faith'. I read this aloud to Michele; She said the imagery was great, especially the image of "a parasol hovering near" I agree. Wishing you all the very best in 2024. Light, Love, Strength, and Endurance. r
