PEACE WITH HONOR song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

peace with honor
that's what they always say
promise peace with honor
but it don't turn out that way

no war is fought humane
all war is just insane
and then history explains
what we failed to learn again
there is no peace with honor
nothing could be more plain
there is no peace with honor
no matter what remains

the generals they start out happy
sure that they are bound to win
and on both sides of the border
they try the same tactics again
the same tricks tried in the last war
the same fix only more and more
and it shakes them to the core
that it won't work just like before

Thucydides he said it best
your foresight's only your best guess
the lowest private's afterthought
is better fought than all the rest
but still the maidens all say yes
to boys who marching to their deaths
then lay upon the battlefields
and call for momma with last breaths

politicians say this cannot be
another world war infamy
because the planet cannot bear
a nuclear catastrophe
but when we all blow out our brains
and cockroaches alone remain
and every human soul is gone
the earth will still go on and on

the sun will rise above the clouds
the mountains will stand tall and proud
the winds will still tomorrow blow
but there'll be no one left to know
as all our cities turn to dust
and our machines turn into rust
no one as witness to our doom
except the monthly blinded moon

peace yes peace peace yes peace
yes this is a sort of peace
where war and war is fought no more
and ancient hatreds all will cease
then all our bones will melt away
and all our days are yesterdays
and left behind is not a trace
not of the goddam human race

and when the octopi fly high
to Mare Tranquility at last
and find the flag that we left there
the only remnant of our past
they'll wonder why we had to leave
a world as beautiful as earth
a place that God Himself conceived
where human beings came to birth

and then they'll find the same on Mars
and as they colonize the stars
will they remember us or not?
do we deserve to be forgot?
the galaxy is vast and wide
and nothing's smaller than our pride
the Milky Way spins round again
and even forever
has an end.....
