I read in the paper all the time of tragic accidents, lives taken so quickly, young and old, it knows no age. Outstanding write, Tinka. One of your very best.

You may have saved lives today in heartbreaking verse: but will mankind ever learn? I've been sober 24 years now--what stopped me? Blacking out behind the wheel--thank GOD I didn't wreck out, kill anyone, or get stopped: enough is enough. Sad thing, though, the drunks usually come out with only a few bumps and bruises (if that) while the carnage he creates will resonate for a long time. Well done

Powerful write my friend...why can't people just drink at home, if they must drink, maybe they wouldn't hurt anyone there...maybe? Great posting, I have lost several friends to driving under the influence, and several friends to other's whom were driving under the influence...sad thing!

Like how this flows Tinka...and your message flows right along with this, sad but true episode of many and few, but even one is enough!
If only...If only we can get this message out there and have people actually believe it can happen to them. Putting it like you did, in "The Accident" has more power than most...it brings it so close to home, so to speak...
