fancied being free--thought your hold would slip.

Sensing that, you tied me! How low you stooped.
Hog-tied and branded, you dare call that love!
Frolicking in mud, a roll in the hay,
with broken spirit ‘twas work and not play.
Overwrought, pregnant with nowhere to flee,
we stood--divided--in sheer misery.
Forced labor, then birthed, a sorrowful cry.
Life never sparked; had no gleam in her eye
too hog-tied and branded . . . drown in the crud!
