A Mother's Cry

Several months have gone by
Since I last saw my son
It seems like yesterday
Saying our goodbyes

Held in each others arms
Hugs and kisses exchanged
Its so hard to let go
He's my only son

My love for my son is like no other
A bond was made the day he was born
Its hard to believe now he's a man
A young man away at war

Our only conncection are the letters we write
Very little is mentioned about the war
Mostly of how he misses his family
Can't wait to come home

Today a knock at my door
Two Marines in full dress
I nearly drop to the floor
Without a word

Helped up by the men
They sat me down on a chair
Eyes filled with tears
I knew my only son was killed

I'm told he died fighting for his country
For one last time I will see my son
That will be our final goodbyes

Nancy

Your words expressed has touch the everlasting, be thou in peace to know always the dew brings life to the fragrant rose, and the buds that die bring upon new seeds so that the land will forever florish!

So much pain and emotion...
Two sacred bonds...
One betwixt a Father and Daughter...
One betwixt a Mother and Son...
Both last beyond the cradle and the grave...

Well written...

Nancy, some people live for years and never do anything great. I have two young nephews who would rather be thiefs and bums than to step up to bat and be real men. They are my sisters two only sons. Be assured that even though you'll have to say goodbye to your son for the last time, "he stepped up to bat and was a real man." I myself am proud of him and the others soldiers who sacrifice so much. I'm not going to dishonor you with sympathy, I'm going to salute you with honor.

There is such a longing to stop these stories.
God I wish we could find a way.
Real tough poem, but we need to look.
