it begins with a high wire pas de deux, slow-
motion spectacle emerging from technicolor night,
slips through the portal of my dysphoria;
painted bodies in brown, black, white, yellow, red,

splashed diamonds of green, blue, gold, purple dyes,
a troupe of nude clowns spinning on pink satin feet,
lusty laughter wreathed in pink tasseled caps,
pink bows dancing at the throat,

masquerade of sinewy forms leaping
through
flaming hoops and gliding across hypnotic reverie,
along taut indiscernible wires,
each a harlequin fantasy in this animated
commedia dell’arte, flaunting

his silver sword in search of fair columbine,
lurking seductively in the wings,
veiled in diaphanous silks,
whispering siren songs, luring a chosen lover
to her chamber of elysium bliss

Parisian flair on the Marais and Champs-Elysees, mimes and Carnival in Rio de Janero, a festive dream indeed, Gene...fueling the explosive arts scene in REM...vivid dreamscene...

Wonderful word choices and colours and a sure sense of occasion and place ground this fantasy well. Imagination is often at its best when it reaches into the fantastic for there the images become dreamlike and fleeting, and yet to the reader lasting and beautiful.

Gene,

Wellnow, this would be a dream I wouldn't mind having! Bright; colorful; entertaining. Desire? Indeed. Especially that last stanza - whoo! A three ring circus overhead: well done!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I'm not a dream interpreter, but this dream is very interesting and colorful. I hope you will find its meaning soon.

Gene, I have costumed Comedia shows, but your costumed dreamworld is far more interesting than I have ever done...lol
I especially love the last stanza:

his silver sword in search of fair columbine,
lurking seductively in the wings,
veiled in diaphanous silks,
whispering siren songs, luring a chosen lover
to her chamber of elysium bliss

Your descriptions are captivatingly haunting..
Peace, love, and light,

Good Morning Gene,
Lust is the prowler lurking within the shadows of foreplay
& not to say that is a bad thing...I feel hauntingly endevoured by wonders of enticements reading this dream. And creeped out by the clowns....
You Work Is Spectacular Gene...your words reeling me in deeper all the time to the visions expressed within the vivid clarity of your poetic expressions

this is something like a garote; slightly sinister, a chastitiy belt that palyers wear as choke.collars. .. maybe my mind is making maniacal malice so early in this morning, but when i read this, i certain unease settled, with the dust of dripping shadows. . .. but ive always been slightly distrusting, if not afraid, of clowns. .. . jesters, and their pointed sarcasm and painted'up philosophy-----the seems so borderlingering; as if all the sweetly beautiful costumes and lights and glows and auras cannot hide the intent, the desire, the vicious coup de gras. .. or amybe im jsut messed up? lol. ..
