I admire high peaks Because they seem More selfless to me And more resigned In the way they are, Going thru the cold Of a long night and Midday heat ahead Than all the other Low-lying entities Whose fat lots flow In their due security.

I have sat on high peaks. There is something, as you say, rare and unique about them, poking their heads thru the clouds, secure in their height and majesty and looking down with benevolence upon the plains and valleys of the earth. John
