Green in White

When winter's cold is come,

And the rime and snow

Are falling in white,

Then we start to know

The evergreen power

Of the cypress and pine.

Green and white does make a beautiful winter scene. Hemlock, spruce, cedar, juniper, and fir, among other conifers stay green against the frozen white, along with holly, rhododendron and other plants made for winter. Unfortunately, my cypress's needles out front have turned a reddish-brown and fallen to the ground, shed for winter.

Gotcha! They, then are survivors. Nothing can blunt their beauty, except of course fire. But they rebound beautifully.
