The water of lake is like

A cup of green tea
 
In a cavity which is
 
Never filled to the brim.
 
 
Men do not look
 
Into running water
 
As a bright mirror,
 
But into still water.
 
 
It's only the still water
 
That can arrest them all
 
And keep in thought
 
Of their true souls.

. . . and "still water runs deep," I have heard tell. Love those kind ofplaces where you can look into still water and be mesmerized.

Thousands of years before the mirror was invented, man saw his/her image in the water and marveled at what he saw. Did he think it matched the way he thought? Probably not. It certainly was a revelation that haunts us to this very day.

It's true, "Men do not look into running water." In the still water, we seek our image. Perhaps we don't realize that the running water has an image too. A thoughtful poem. John
