A Lifelong Roundabout

Poem Artwork

For long long decades
 
I've learned and mastered

Both civil and military skills,

Winning neither good name

Nor earning a decent income,

I would confess. Thus,

Steering a course of life

Made of thousands and

Thousands of miles,

I eventually return to

My stories, short poems,

Hot wine, long rounds,

Teapot ceramics, orchards,

And fields to till in harmony

With yearly alternation between

Cold seasons and scorching heat.

In the end, after life-long toil, we come back to ourselves, who we are in our essence with, yes, as you say, the yearly alteration of the seasons, which is only right.
