Poem Artwork

Between Heaven and Earth
Only what's your is yours;
The aspiration of setting off
And hitting the Road levels all
Ups and downs on its surface.

Blue sky above your head
And boundless land at your feet
Lead you forward by mighty gods
And ubiquitous spirits which weave

The warp and weft of the fell on you lot.

The way of Heaven manifests itself,

The earthly virtues feed your conduct;
The spring of things never drains itself--

Its freshness is desired by all the kind

And unkind men without exception.

I don't know, but the whole thing is quite inspirational to me. Reminds me of my restless youth when the open road beckoned, especially in spring, and I was off on my way, bumps ahead or nay.

The greenery covering that two color landscape belies what appears to be overgrazed and eroded land. There is no tree in sight.

Like John said, I too liked the last stanza the best, and the very last two lines are superb.

I think you have really hit on the mark in your final stanza with a brilliant insight that works well on the reader. "The spring of things never drains itself," ah, how I wish I had written that !
