Birth and death are not far apart,
But how come that they take
Their conjunction in between
Which cannot be heard or seen?
That someone has caused them,
Or that there has been no action
In the case are but speculations
Of doubt and gossip, what else!
When I look for
The birth and death's inception,
It goes back into infinity;
When I look for their ending,
It proceeds to me without cease.
Infinite and unceasing --
There is no room for description
Of their perfect fitting,.. still
To regard such a huge profound
As in the category of their origin.
We're born. We live. We die. The mystery of life and death. Sometimes death occurs within moments after birth, and sometimes death doesn't come for years. some people live into their 100's. Life has no rhyme, and reason remains quite elusive.
All life dies. But before that life can die, it lives. Religions have a simple way of defining the beginning of life. Physicists have a more difficult and profound way of determining life and are hard at work to see if life is spontaneous, going back to the origin of the universe. How far?
It is always interesting to me that in the eight grade, when required to write an essay. I wrote an essay on the origin of life. ;-)
You've articulated yet another exploration into the mystery of life and death. Perhaps of greater note is the reminder of how pat many religions and science choose the pedantic route of easy explanation... an explanation, as you point out, "Infinite and unceasing --
