Poem Artwork

I like springtime,
But it is still
Too green to me
In life experience;

I like summertime,
But it is too proud
In its luxury and
Prosperity.

So, I like most of all
Midfall cuz its leaves
Are a little yellowish,
A little red and drab

Its tones are mellower,
Its colors are richer, and
It is tinged with sorrow
And premonition of end.

I don't like to talk
About winter season --
Its monochrome colors
Are my lot once and for all.

Great poem about the four seasons simulating the four seasons of our lifetime.

I've never liked Winter, except to play snowball fights when I was younger, now I just hate the coldness it brings. My children love the snow though. They would even lie down on it.

A great metaphor for life. Yes, as beautiful as the monochrome of winter is, it is deadly cold.

Each season has its own unique beauty. When winter gives us a blanket of snow, it might be monochrome, but it's a stark beauty, especially a wet snow that clings to branches of trees, as well plants and other things. A blanket of snow can transform a landscape into a magical scene. A winter wonderland.

The seasons can tell us so much, and to each of us something different, as you have done in this poem. I too have written many times about the seasons, each time a little different according to my mood of the moment. Nice work.

A good analogy, Alexander. You've captured a thoughtful sadness about the human condition in the 'marrow' of this. You're not alone. Peace... r
