This is not written about anyone I know. It was inspired by something I read. How many people long for the substance of touch but settle for cyber stroking instead? If you see yourself in these words, please don't assume I've singled you out. I think a lot of people will identify with aspects of this piece. Words (even through an impersonal medium) have the power to touch in profound ways that few of us fully understand. Still, the real desire is for a more tangible touch....something we all need.

Driven by a compulsion. to feed a fragile ego - a limp shadow that drags from his heels; He seeks some new spark to ignite the ember within his frigid soul To consume the tangle of dry twigs - those worries & woes that plague his existence. Insecurity and fear have stifled his creativity causing him to seek solace in the cyber arms of a distant lover A binary affair that lacks the substance of touch� � Chanti

A very touching poem Chanti, and very touching, in that I can relate to some of this also. I long for my fiance's touch, but for now, we will just have to talk in cyberspace, because our phone is disconnected. So Iwill just have to be content to speak to him in our IM's.
