Nature’s Extreme Sun


The sun cast upon the amber sky,
a summer day in the raging heat,
temperatures rise and people sigh,
heart rate increase with a steady beat.

Healthy plants withering upon the vine,
unable to seek shelter, no place to hide,
mercury rising, with passage of time,
a fawn lays down, curled up on it’s side.

Old man in the field stumbles and falls,
head spinning, lost in a heat stricken daze,
restless horses begin stirring in their stalls,
simple life has now become a deathly maze.

Nature’s power and might can be so bold,
her extremes, known to take her mortal toll,
from the stifling heat or the freezing cold,
many end up dead, buried in a dark hole.

Yet, beneath the sun we play each day,
enjoying the warmth the sun may bring,
without thoughts it could come our way,
but nature like life isn’t always Spring.
