Overwhelming Dream

Trees forever tall colored in shades of green,

swaying softly in the warm morning breeze,

air permeating a smell of freshness so clean,

the wonderment of nature, just there to please.

Radiant sky of pastels of a rainbow set in blue,

casting a reddish hue from the new rising sun,

nature’s own vast canvas, painted oh so true ,

such transcending beauty, changing never done.

Sights and sounds of Mother Nature fills the air,

birds chirping, singing in harmony near and far,

enchanting wilderness there to enjoy and share,

without the noise and pollution of a single car.

Insignificant creatures, never satisfied we roam,

in search of happiness and pleasurable delight,

looking in search of a placid place to call home,

never appreciating the stars twinkling in the night.

If only we would take time to stop, listen, and feel,

the serenity might overwhelm us like in a dream,

then, and only then might our spirit begin to heal,

and maybe we might abandon our earthly schemes.

Oh, what a beautiful poem. I could really relate to this, the "trees forever tall colored in shades of green" and the chirping birds and star-filled night. For years I searched for this "placid place to call home." It took forty years, but I am one of the fortunate ones who finally found it. You have so beautifully captured the essence and majesty of nature, the value of quiet. Thank you for writing this.

Absolutely loved the poem, especially the last verse. Truer words never written. Well done Sam.

Dear Samuel, what a gift you have! A talented writer, and gifted poet who has such love for the beauty around us. Not only the beauty that God has given us in creation, but the beauty that lies within the heart. love Holly
