Spring in the city, heralded with song
The birds convened
for three whole days
At Highway 6 and Beechnut Drive.
They sang the sun up
from the East,
Called to dead things
To come alive.
Above the traffic,
on the wires passing electric,
the birds desired
folks to see
how nature's spring
cheered every fragile
man-made thing.
We must celebrate the swing,
the song, the bloom,
the ring,
as feathered creatures
merry, sing.
