This morning Jim said to me "We are going to have to talk to our 'children' about the critters they bring in!"
~
"Shrews and mice or a rat or two, Just this morning Calli brought a bird for you." Poor little sparrow died in my hand Calli just does not understand, Her feline nature dictates She hunts by instinct, not out of hate. Most of her captives live to go free All she wants is praise from me. It hurts me when a birds cries I hear, This poor little sparrow just died of fear. Shouting or scolding would do no good Calli is only doing what nature intended she should.
~
With soft words and gentle persuasion She releases her captives to me, for liberation. What Calli wants is my affirmation And of her hunting skills, admiration.
I had a feline like that too when I was a kid. He always brought in the hunted, lay it in front of everyone's full view, and all he ever wanted was praises from us.
Wonderful write indeed!
