The Bravest Of Men
The front lines were home to the bravest of men.
From desert through snow they fought time and again.
And nations world wide all did pledge us their best.
To never accept a dictated conquest.
With every town sending men bold and true .
Virtues in decline with their numbers now few.
Some enlisted young all too eager to serve.
In battle they proved their fine mettle and nerve.
On land, sea and air they would challenge their foe.
With courage and valour through hell they did go.
They all fought for freedom and rights to exist.
And died in their millions too numerous to list.
The stench and decay of the wounded and dead.
Smelled worse than the smog from the gun smoke and lead.
Now many years on and still deep in their debt.
We renew our promise to never forget.
Pay homage to lives we need never have lost.
For wars should not happen no matter the cost.
Til men are set free of our will to destroy.
Say thanks to the heroes whose peace we enjoy.
