The loss of Environment is both tragic and penalising. We need to keep oir forest for environmental balance. A bit late for this in some parts of the world.

The Timber Cutters.

The sound of axes cutting rings throughout the glen,
The timbercutters can be heard working once again,
Down deep into the forest where the giant timbers grow .
Deep amongst the timber , where the sunlight doesn 't go.


On the old dusty track, the Jinkers creak and groan,
Oxen straining at the chains, hauling big logs home,
Up to the mill at the top of the range, where the big saws spin and whine,
Screaming biteing into logs , cutting billets fine.


See the big trees falling in the forest, before the axmans blows,
Huge chips flying as they strike, hear the big trees dying groans
Kings of the forest fallen, , their regal stature lost,,
Forests stripped and plundered, to a nations cost,

Cedars, blackbutt, stringy fall beneath the axe,s bite,
Mountain ash and messmate , suffer , sharing a similar plight,
Grist for mills making paper and for chipping.. ply,
While forests are disappearing, it's enough to make one cry.

What once was royal forest , now stumps just fill the scene,
Soon will come the dozers to make the hillssides clean,
the forest will be forgotten , just grass will take its place,
Giant trees now gone for good, leaving empty space.

Now there's only paddock s upon which sheep may safely graze.
Away in distant memories, way, back in latter days,,
Some remember mighty forests, some will count the cost,
Of forests being plundered, our natural heritage lost.
