When you lose a child

Poem Artwork

She was his little girl and no matter where they went
the room was filled with the sound of her laughter
Precious stars of heaven dipped like diamonds for her
for she was the most beautiful angel on earth
Then one day she got very sick and had to fly away;

He was left with the memory of their last firm embrace
day after day, night after night, he hoped for her return
one night he had a dream that she spoke inside his ear
"release me dad, " she breathed to a falling manly tear
His heart went Pop! and then, the rhythm re-appeared.

A very sad poem of loss. But a glimmer of hope at the end when the father apparently released himself from his guilt and pain.

The loss of a child is truly a 'definitive tragedy'. Things will never get back to way they were. Those who endure such a loss end up living two lives. One where they press forward bravely, and the other where their hearts silently scream in pain. Thankfully, the loss is only temporary when you believe in the Risen Son of God. This was a touching and poignant insight Vienna. Thank you for sharing. rlc
