Can’t Wait…
Cannot wait till that day, says I,
Cannot wait to hear what they say,
Cannot eat nor drink,
Till they tell me what I pay,
Oh dear god in heaven,
Send the judge, the night before,
A good lay…
Will I be taken off in shackles?
Will they strip search me right there?
I don’t look good in orange,
Will they sentence me to a long incarceration?
Will the put me in with bubba,
Will he initiate me in the intricacies of the prison social system?
I guess I will have to like it, as I have no other choice…
Here comes da’ judge, oh my hackles are starting to rise,
I made it through to this day of sentencing,
Will I be made to speak of my crime?
I cannot imagine that, for I only wrote a poem,
A poem about an emotion,
One that I know quite well,
Please don’t make me tell,
Of that emotion, the one here I to you sell,
Oh, what can I do, I will say it once,
And only once, if it gets me off,
Yes that emotion is one of ANXIETY,
There, it is stated, can I go now or are you going to scoff?

I believe you've captured anxiety in this one quite well with a little bit of scoffing of your own.
