Irreverent…

Yes, irreverent is what I am & proud,

I say it to all and I say quite loud,

If irreverent I am then I should be allowed,

To make jokes at the expense of God & his crowd…

I am sure He would understand,

His understanding is what put him where he is,

His compassion of others shortcomings, like my lack of humor,

Got him his job, his employment, or was that just a rumor?

Either way I am happy to say, I have yet to be struck down,

By lightening, tornado, hurricane, mudslide, or an insane clown,

Mayhaps when I get to heaven, I will be sent all the way down,

To the depths of despair and brimstone, where I will then do my rounds,

To try to comfort the pained and erring of those who did abound, in the previous life…

So, if that is my destiny, let it be so, I will accept it like a whimpering child,

Begging Him for mercy, dragged away by the dark minions, screaming,

I repent, I repent, please, forgive; forgive, like your bible said you would, not mild,

I may add herein, I am & forever will be a coward, a yellow streak running,

The length of my spine, but I do have one attribute, herein,

I can make people laugh with the written word, or at least that is what I am told…

So please allow me my irreverence for it is the only time in life I get to be so bold…
