Microcosm

This little neighborhood I live in, Such a soap opera or peyton place,
Microcosm, the right name for this neighborhood...

Microcosm…

Why am I “Father Confessor” in my small neighborhood here?

My neighbors seem to think I do care, confide in me they do,

About their familial problems & where,

“Oh, my kids are a pain, they really do scare!”

“We find ourselves scared out of life, limb & occasionally our hair.”

Certainly I do not need to know the problems with their brats,

Or problems they have in their beds, imagine that,

Those problems with their heads, their hair they seem to lose,

They can surely keep that to themselves, I don’t need to know,

Maybe I should just start to drink again, loaded on booze, they seem to excuse…

Anyone drinking with them, don’t seem to comprehend, so they talk to me,

I feel like such a rear-end, for I allow it, not saying anything but,

I just let it go in one ear and out the other, oh cripes here comes another,

Now it’s about my job I need to hear, so stressful, so much a pain,

I don’t want to know, just let me do the job I do, without hearing about your strain,

And I will be happy in life, not straining my neck like that of a crane…

Ed they talk to you because you are friendly
and kind and a good man...they wouldn't tell
all that to just anyone...you should feel proud
that they trust you that much...and yet...I also
hate it when they grab hold of my outside and wont
let go...LOL.....loved this...floria

You're a good man, that's why they talk to you; and you listen.

Now, can I tell you about...(on second thought, I'll e-mail or phone you; it's a very long story. Won't take more than a few hours to explain everything to you. Will 2AM be a good time?)

it take a strong human spirit to stretch your neck and be that of a good listener ...
