To Diet or Not to Diet…?
No I don’t want to die,
At least not yet, I don’t lie,
But the food the doctor did give me,
Makes me barf and puke and generally feel icky…
So I eat what I want, I try to cut back,
On the ribs and steak and other red meats,
I try to eat more veggies, but hard to do,
This doctor must think I am in a zoo…
Banana’s she says, they are good for you,
Apples as well, but I am allergic to them too,
Anything with a skin I have to bite through,
I am allergic to that, no I don’t lie to you…
So let me eat what I damn well want,
Just take my medications at the same time as well,
I really do wish I could tell,
My doctor just how I feel,
But she just laughs and tells me to do as I am told,
If I want to live to become gray and old…

i feel for you--that's why i don't diet. been on diet after diet after diet, since i was 12 years old (nearly 45 now), gained bunches of weight...i refuse to deny myself anything again. the secret? moderation. exercise. i've maintained my 170 pounds for three years now. :)
hope it gets easier!

reaches retirement age, that is when doctors and "experts" begin
dictating what a person should and shouldn't do. And if you don't follow their "life-saving advice," they put you in a nursing home where there's no seasoning on the food, no music and laughter and no wine. These are the so-called Golden Years, that somehow, through tightly regimented "conventions," are let to tarnish away in misery.
I remember the words of an old country tune: "Love hard, die young,
and leave a beautiful memory."
I like the idea of being young, even though age numbers remind us otherwise. "As old as you feel," has always been my motto. Left up
to ME, I would never feel old. Strength to you, too, Ed!
