I Was Once a god

Not the big god, we have all heard tell of, just one from the past, one that used to live on the mount...

Poem Artwork

I WAS ONCE a god…

No I was not THE god,

Nor was I Christ or the holy ghosties,

I was more of an Olympus god,

Either Zeus or Apollo or one of that lot,

Till I fell therein from grace,

Kicked off the mount and am now living on a cot…

I have got to say, I may be powerless,

But I am nonetheless immortal,

Living out my days, in this motor home,

In this campground, taking notes on the human kind,

They all have such odd and sometimes destructive minds…

They have not changed, human kind that is,

I try to assist to the degree I can, they always get me in a tiz,

But for the most part, living here has its perks,

I got me a job, I don’t know any jerks, and I have pot enough to piss…

So don’t feel altogether too bad for this old god of the past,

A long life I have had, and I know it will be longer; yes it will last,

Till the end that mankind does live on this earth,

I will always and forever have a place to sleep, in my berth…
