So Many Pills…

A pill to sleep,

Another for my head to keep,

Still another to keep me calm,

From me you would hear not a peep,

Yet another for my memory I get to keep,

And yet another to think thoughts so dark and deep,

Don’t want to allow my memory to flow away, yes to seep…

So many pills to help us stay alive,

Take them we do, we usually do not decide,

Doctors tell us we need them to avoid suicide,

Rather would I; float away and die on the outgoing tide…

Pills for everything we do got, and then again not,

Pills to help us kick habits like that of pot,

Are they better than the reason we take them?

Or is it better to get high and live happily with our lot…?
