Late

Is it love the reason I await her arrival or is it I just want to kill her for being an hour and a half late so far...?

Late…


 


As usual, I expected Rene' at nine,


Here it is ten and she has yet to show,


But for now that is okay, yes fine,


She has yet to cross that invisible line…


 


After noon, I will go back to bed,


Not much sleep have I had, waiting for her visit,


At least I got my breakfast, an omelet and bread,


Something to eat before going to the beach,


Always the food there is, in price, out of reach…


 


Nothing to do now but write,


Or maybe take a nap, yeah that seems right,


Guess she will get here when she gets here,


No different than most women, either lost, or running late,


Is my forever and always pain in the ass soul mate…

Starting to think I need to reread the rules about how to treat a man. I am never late...........I am the one that shows up early :-) Wonderful write..........but I think Sue Sparks might be right, if I was your woman and saw your poem last night.......well I might be late too :-)

A good write, Ed!
Of all the little irritants in life that add years to our age,
I suspect "waiting for someone in vain," tops the list.

In my extensive research, I have found that females, of any species, operate on a totally different 'time spectrum' than we males do.

Case In Point: When we need to be somewhere at 3 PM, I shamelessly lie and tell my lovely spouse our appointment is at 1 PM. She shows up inevitably at 2:30, extremely proud of the fact that she is only 'slightly late' ( a mini-second in her time spectrum; 1.5 hours in mine). And me, I am thankful that if I speed like hell, we can still get there by 3.

An excellent write my friend! However she is NOT late! You’re just early…lol! Peace thru waiting it out! P.S. Just don’t wear any holes in the carpet…lol!
