Spare Ribs...?

Got one to spare...?

Spare Ribs…?

A meal to some,

But to me, yes one,

Something extra, yes spare,

Did they with my body come?

Or am I being as usual dumb?

How about a bladder or heart spare,

Or maybe for that matter a pair,

We could live forever if we did have,

A body like that of a bear,

Perhaps that should be a prayer…

So since left with only a spare rib,

Must be the one that made woman,

Or so the bible does teach, trying here to be glib,

When we do eat those ribs we must wear a bib…

Barbecued Spare Ribs

    2 pounds spare ribs
    1/4 cup soy sauce
    2 tablespoons honey
    2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
    2 tablespoons white vinegar
    1 tablespoons rice wine
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 teaspoon sugar
    2 tablespoons chicken stock

Place spare ribs in a large baking dish in one layer.

In a small bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over spare ribs and coat on both sides. Marinate overnight, basting occasionally.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Place a large, shallow roasting pan on the oven bottom. Fill with 1/2 inch water. Place spare ribs on a roasting rack. Roast ribs for 45 minutes. Raise oven temperature to 450 degrees F, and roast for 15 more minutes. Serve hot or cold.

Clever, Ed... first read poetry, then cook. With my kitchen prowess, I'll combine the two and say: This poem cooks! katy xox.

Sounds yummy, Ed. I love spare ribs, but usually I put them on the grill. You are making me hungry and all I have here to eat is a bunch of trick or treat candy that I am trying (and failing) to keep my hands away from.
Take care,
Sherry
