Raking Leaves

Raking leaves…

My yard is clean,

It took me an hour,

But now when I look behind me,

All I can do is glower…

For just as I remove them,

The leaves do return,

Better I would be to leave them and later burn,

The wind today I do hate, yes, just today I do spurn…

The weather is beautiful, a great day for the beach,

But with no money or gas I can’t go,

Must rake up leaves from the beech,

So here I do sit, watching the leaves fall,

My yard a mess again, better to construct a wall,

To keep the neighbors leaves in his yard,

They are from his trees afterall…

Dont fret Ed, leave them, they are natrual compost, and and and.... they will fertilize your garden for next year, his loss hehe.

The eternal conundrum--to rake or not. I've found, since I can't rake, that the wind or winter takes care of it. Or. a mower chops them up enough to go away.

I empathize, Ed, truly I do,
but you should see my yard in view.
I live in Scotch Plains at
the foot of a moutain
from which trees spit leaves
like a faithful old fountain.

Hehehe. Unlike you I've got a son to rake. Glad we could commiserate. Thanks for writing this! ;-) Nordette
